Hello, how are you all? :) I am doing fine.. Not making real progress in speed reading, which makes me angry and frustrated but I'm Okay.
We had a sandstorm today and I spent 3 hours mopping the floor afterwards.. Surprisingly, I feel really really happy :) Mopping the floor doesn't usually make me happy, especially if the floor isn't looking clean at all now (I HATE SAND).
I finished reading "The Fellowship of the Ring" few days ago, and started reading "The Two Towers" yesterday..
Aunt Rose had a baby yesterday.. I'll leave the details for her :D
Now to the part that I love and hate at the same time; hate because I'm asking you for help, and love because it's really going to help people..
You see there's this 7-month-old girl, with a congenital heart disease, from a poor family.. She needs surgery that can not be done here in Iraq which is why they'll need to take her to Syria. She's going to need about 10 thousand dollars. I wrote the Unicef, the Red Cross, Spirit of America, Operation Give, Operation Blessing yesterday (UPDATE: Gift of life international, Hospital for sick children in Tornoto, and Healing heart campaign PCRF today).
Do you know who else I can contact for help in such case? I can provide you with more details like the X-Rays and the doctors' reports.
Your help is appreciated.
(Update: Waiiiiit, I think I did it.. I think I did it.. Pray this is true)

Post a CommentNajma, have a look at this article from a few weeks ago. It talks about Iraqi children coming to my city of Indianapolis for heart surgery. I know of the group that is doing this. As I understand, they pay all expenses. Last year a little boy from Afghanistan came here under the same program. I wrote about him in my blog. Here is a link to my post if you are interested. I will try to find out more about this program and see if I can get some contact information for them.
What about the Red Cresent? Do they help children who are in need of help?
How about Doctors Without Borders?
Congrats on the birth of you new Cousin!!
congrats Najma, I will pray for your success. Keep us updated and let us know how it goes. I will be ready to look for new alternatives for you, there are many groups around the world who have funds set up for just this kind of case!

Najma, here is a link that gives a worldwide list of hospitals that participate in the Gift of Life International Program. It also includes an email address where, I presume, you can get more information. The list includes the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto that you have found. It also includes the hospital in Indianapolis that I am familiar with, as well as many others.
If I may suggest, contact the email address provided in this link. The Toronto hospital may be the one to help the girl that you know, however, one of the other hospitals may be available to help sooner.
My thoughts are with you and this small child.

How about taking her to Churches, first to pray on her, and secondly to find out whether the church can send her to out side of Iraq to get treated.
Nadja, you can contact CHOP (Childrens' Hospital of Philadelphia, in Pennsylvania, US) from this website.

This hospital has an international reputation. A few years ago they performed surgery on the son of a Saudi prince, and a nephew of mine spent many weeks there.
The Ronald MacDonald House associated with the hospital can provide housing for the family, if required, while the child is hospitalized.
At the very least, CHOP may be able to help you contact agencies and medical services closer to home.
"The Hospital never turns a child and family away, regardless of financial circumstances. Charitable support helps make the difference between what families can reasonably afford and the full cost of patient care at America's best children's hospital."
Congratulations on your new niece (cousin?) I just read about her over on Sunshine's blog.
