Aunt Najma X 2
Thursday, May 04, 2006
Two days of waiting and lousy studying paid off finally. At 1:30 AM today, and while I was asleep in my room, I felt like I heard something.. After getting a bit more conscious, I realized mom was calling me. I called her back and all I got from her was that "she's okay, it's a boy, bye" and she hanged up.
I hurried downstairs, woke my aunt and HNK up to tell them the news, then back upstairs to send SMSs to another aunt and cousin who had told me to SMS as soon as the baby comes. Then I sent an SMS to mom begging her to call me as soon as things calm down at her side, I had to ask about more details, what if she hanged up because something was wrong. About 15 minutes later, I got the awaited call.. Mom reassured me that the baby is okay, his fingers are 10 and so are his toes (This IS an important question to ask in the family), but my sister seems to have suffered a lot, but is okay now. I also talked to the baby over the phone :)
As soon as the curfew ended, my brother-in-law brought the new born, his mother and grandma to the house.
He is the smallest baby I've ever seen.. It's unbelievable. He's not as beautiful as Aya, but he'll get there by time. He's whiter and more blond than Aya, and if you look hard enough, you can see some yellow eyelashes.
You know what's scary, everyone is so busy making sure that Aya wouldn't get jealous that I think he's feeling left out. In fact, right now, I'm the only one with him in the room, I brought my laptop here so I can observe him since everyone else is playing with Aya.. He's sucking the only hand he managed to get out and is whining to me :((
Anyway, after long thinking from my brother-in-law and with the help of his dear sister-in-law, we decided to name him Ayman. However, Ayman's photo will not be published until he has some flesh under the skin, and some muscles too ;)
This baby will be supervised by me as soon as I finish my exams, he'll be the greatest kid I've ever raised inshallah ;)

Congratulations on the newborn! Aren't they small and warm... Warmer even than cats, if I remember correctly. The only time I held a baby relative was when my little sister was born nine years ago. I didn't dare touch her face, it was all so fragile.
Why is it so important to make sure first of all that the kid has ten fingers and toes? There's hardly any risk of the baby losing anything in the uterus, is there?
I'm sure that, in time, he'll be just as cute as Aya. Just pay close attention :)

Hi Najma!!! Congratulations on Abu Hamamay Ayman!!!! It's amazing!!! Both of our sisters had their first baby at the same time, and now they'll have their second baby almost the same time too!!!
I am now with my family waiting for my sister to give birth to, yes, a nephew on top of it all too! Her due date is tomorrow :)
So, lets see what happens...I'll send you a picture as soon as I get it. Unfortunately I leave in a few days, so I hope I'm here when the muscooot comes! Anyway, my best as always to your sister and the rest of your family. I've missed being in contact with you and everybody else. I'm sorry I've been MIA lately. Hopefully I'll break out of my slump soon. Yallah, ma'ah salaaama dear Najma ;)

Congratulations Najma on becoming an aunt once again! It sounds like Ayman was born somewhat early since he is very small. But, I am sure that he will grow fast and become very strong like his aunts. :) Hope he gets his muscles soon! ;))

Do you know anyone interested to have communication/dialogue with amricans in Idaho?
Like a sister city type of thing, we'd like to organize a way for regular people to have conversations with Iraqi's.
