As an American university student, I am always interested in what is actually going on out in Iraq. I hear a lot of different stories from the media about what really might be happening, but I can never be entirely sure. Reading blogs from Iraqis such as yourself is refreshing and really helps me learn about a people whom I respect so much, whose culture is simply amazing ...

Najma,

I just found your Blog and think that it is great. I got to come to Iraq last year. I just wish that it was in a different time. I got to visit the ruins of Babylon, there is nothing that is that old to see in America. I also loved to get the chance to talk to the Iraqi people. I never thought that I would get that chance. I hope that you will someday know that many Americans wish the best for you.
How many of us have come to your Blog to learn more about Iraqi people? It is people like you that reach out to others, that want people to know who they are, and want to talk to people from other places, that will one day change our world!!!!! Keep up the good work and your site is great. And you should not apologize for your use of our language. We should be sorry for not knowing yours!!

I just found your blog. I love seeing the pictures because my nephew is in the American military there in Mosul. I like being able to see what he sees.
Great photo -- that mosque reminds me of a ziggurat, or a stepped pyramid ... fascinating to see ancient architectural forms referenced in this way.
Hi Najma
I hope I will not offend you if I ask where did you learned such a good English ????
Salaam Najma

This is a beautiful picture. I like the architecture of this mosque. I think that the palm trees (or maybe date trees) go well with it. Do people pray on the steps when it's full inside?

Salaam Najma,

best wishes for you, your country and all iraq peoples. I hope we can see more peaceful pictures about iraq.

Its for me very interesting to read information about the life in Iraq. We get lot of news in the German TV, Newspapers, but this are only "bad" news, no "good" news.
