Too Much Temptation

In Explorator on June 27, 2007 at 4:02 pm

I’m grouping the posts I will write during my stay in New York under this category: Explorator. Some of them will be multi-category posts, which means they belong to more than one category. In this case, I will list them initially under Explorator and when they are off the main page I will go back to edit them and list them under the other categories they belong to. I will do that because usually the small box under any multi-category post does not fit more than one category title. I don’t like things to be off like that, so I will trick the system when nobody is watching.

That off my chest, I can proceed now to the story of this post.

There are three tattoo studios in the area where I live, and they are all within a five minute walking distance from my current location on this couch. I eye them from the car every time I pass by them and make mental notes to google them when I get home. I google them, they’re good places with good reviews, and I make mental notes to decide on an ink design. I decide on a design, and wonder if I will tolerate it 20 years down the road. I decide I will because it is smart and I even imagine myself telling my grandchildren the story behind it, quite possibly the story in this post.

There is no way around it. If I am surrounded by body art studios, I will have to succumb to the temptation of ink and needles. I have been trying to resist for the past week, but secretly at night I look up designs and imagine them on my skin. I am ill.

  1. Get an "I heart NY" tattoo. Seems appropriate.

  2. Be good, Tololy! <br /><br />I think I was the only guy in my unit that didn’t ahev any tatoos, when I was in the Marines. I don’t get the whole tattoo thing, and I never did. But I’m not trying to discourage you! Just make sure you get something tasteful :)<br />

  3. <p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">I love tattoos and&nbsp; ear piercings but I’m too chicken to get either. So I just watch <place w:st="on"><city w:st="on">Miami</city></place> ink on tv and dream lol&nbsp;what part of the body do u wana get one? My sister has one on the back of her neck, yuck! And now she wants one on her wrist </p>

  4. Go Tololy! Go Tololy *eggs her on, then backs off* Oh, I’m supposed to say… NO bad girl! Damn, I am an evil seed!

  5. Tololy, know how you love this stuff, how can I discourage you??&nbsp; :D<br /><br />Just remember how bad it looks when the skin sags in a couple decades, so somwhere that doesn’t get crepe-y when old .Also a clear, simple design that doesn’t melt into itself with age (nothing grosser than 60 year old biker chicks with tatoos that now look like black pop art applied with marker).<br /><br />Also, careful as it is addictive.<br />

  6. I say go for it! I’ve secretly fantasized about having one for years, also something smart and tasteful (and small) but doubt I’ll ever have the courage to go through with it. Can’t wait to hear what you’ve decided!

  7. <p>Tololy, I always appreciated the artistic part of it, But I can understand whi it is Haram, you are scribbling and torturing yourskin for nothing, i had a lot od friends who regretes having tatoos, Stay Cool…Be Smart…Dont Do it….If you like to change, why stick with a Dragon, butterfly, Rose or whatever I love NY…on your body forever</p>
<p>get&nbsp;the temperary tatoos from Claire’s….enjoy them then kiss them byebye</p>
