August 6, 1977, a day I will never forget!!!
Daddy's little girl and my only daughter will be turning 30 years “young”!
With events like birthdays and anniversaries I do not feel that time has passed so quickly and I got to this point in my life! Amazing how life passes me by without much noticing!
It was only “yesterday” when I gave birth to my oldest child. Seeing her now as a grown woman, married with two children, does not even feel like I am the one who carried her for 9 months, went through hard labor for 17 hours and raised her all those years, all of that is hard for me to believe when I see her!! She turned out to be a beautiful , responsible and caring young woman. It feels like someone else did all of those things for me! I am just me now!
Being the only daughter we have, she is for sure daddy’s little girl. She was never spoiled, but had her share of much love and care. She holds a special place in her daddy's heart. He was the one to lend her his full support and love when she made her decision about marrying her husband against all odds. His approval and support meant the world to her and she got it unconditionally.
My relationship with my daughter does not feel like a mother/daughter relationship. We are 20 years apart. I feel that I was her mom only when she was a baby and I had to take care of her physically. I woke up one day and she was all grown up and it feels like I have a best friend!
At an early age we started having this unique relationship that feels more like friends than a mother/daughter relationship, I think because she was the oldest of my three kids and I always treated her like she is older than her real age!! We talk on the same level, we share things with all honesty and we go through life with all its ups and downs together.
There has not been a day in her life that we have not communicated, thanks for living in such day and age. It was not all roses and flowers all the time, I have to be realistic and say that we did and do clash on certain issues, but we both are rational about how to deal with issues and problems.
She has always been a talker since she was a little girl, no wonder she made it as a lawyer!!! She would come home from school and talk endlessly about every little thing that happened with her during the school day. She would talk about her happy moments and disappointed ones too. She would share stories about her teachers, studies, new and old friends in details. Her stories were never boring. She has a funny way and very expressive way of talking that is capturing and amusing. Me, being the curious type, I enjoyed every little story she would tell.
I am sure she hated me for making her do chores around the house. I used to hate emptying the dishwasher and I gave her that chore!!! I guess I was a mean mom at that time, but I had million other things to do and worry about!
She left home when she was 17 years old and went to college. She wanted to be a teacher since she was a little girl but she chose a different path in her education and went to law school. She graduated with honors and practiced law for few years before she became a stay-at- home-mom and very proud of it! She has a very strong personality and presence. She is assertive and aggressive when she needs to be, but she is also a sweet, giving and kind human being.
She met the love of her life one year before she graduated law school. They got married one day after her graduation. She is happily married to a nice guy that we all adore and love. They are the proud parents of cute Sophia and Amira. She gave me the best two gifts anyone can have, her daughters!! Both are amazing in many ways!! She made me the happiest mother and grandmother on the face of this earth!
To my beloved daughter, Happy Birthday! Wish you many many more happy ones with all your loved ones around you. I love you!

It is best to start young with your child to have this close relationship. i have to be realistic about it, sometimes you have to step in and show that you are the parent, you cannot be a friend all the time! :)
