Salaam, from Saracen
P.S. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the poll that I am conducting on Musharraf and the State of Emergency.
"Be the change you want to see in the world." - Gandhi
I, Saracen, am a 20-something Muslim, a Palestinian, and Radical Libertarian, and as such believe in the maximum decentralization of power as possible, for sovereignty ultimately belongs to God. I stand against all forms of oppression, extremism, racism, bigotry and totalitarianism, all of which seek to divide us humans and worsen this world. As an economic centrist, I furthermore oppose Fascism and Communism in all forms, but still remain largely undecided on the economic left-right scale, which itself, I think, is ambiguous and limited in its scope. I oppose war, nationalism, partisanship, and interventionism on part of any country, and I adhere to a strict belief in non-aggression unless directly attacked. In that sense, I oppose the institution that is empire, whatever shape, form, race, nation, or religion may serve as its base. Also, my background as a Palestinian doesn't make you any more or less of who you are: we're all human, and that's what matters. My identification with my background only serves to explain any limitations I may have on my worldly scope. Regardless, I am here to deconstruct and decimate as much misinformation (on the MidEast and Islam) as I can: in the eyes of a Middle Eastern Muslim, but as fair as an observer. I will also be providing insights into my social philosophies and address the issues that affect us in general, especially those that we confront in our daily lives.
My awakening into this world was not so long ago. I realized that we live in an age of darkness, where honor, glory and enlightenment have yielded to betrayal, corruption and greed. Cynicism has taken over optimism. The media outlets are varied, and many figures of the political, social and cultural sphere echo differing and clashing viewpoints. Propaganda is looming everywhere and minimizing the chance of open discussion and accountability. It is our job to sift through it, and realize the world for what it is, not for what we wish it to be in our own selfish desires. Alliances are shifty, and people are beginning to serve their own ends instead of helping others. Humanity is falling into the darkness, and I fear that we might be too late. Tapping into the blogosphere and its almost infinite resources, I feel that it is my duty, as well as the duty of many bloggers out there, to revive it, and bring the light by exposing the darkness that has engulfed this world. Hopefully, we will one day live in a world where we will not be judged by the color of our skin but by the content of our character... a world where we will live in peace and harmony, and are free to worship whoever we choose... a world with a sense of justice and equity.
I thank you all for visiting my blog, and I hope that you find it interesting, enjoyable and, most importantly of all, enlightening. God bless you and peace be upon you.
