So, Where were we? Ah yes, I remember now, Happy Holidays Everyone
I have to say though I am not too fond of the Cold. Although i do prefer it to the summer time. Anyway, Lets not speak of this now.
I am currently reading the Lord of the Rings books, which i borrowed from Hal, And I must say, I’m enjoying them immensely, more than i thought i would, really. They are truly magnificent, and dare i say, more enjoyable than the movies, you see, after reading the first book (The Fellowship) and then re-watching the first movie, I really felt like it wasn’t a true interpretation of Tolkien’s vision. the movie seemed flawed, and not as vibrant as the book, see, the book has much more detail than the the movie, and many characters and events that are in the book are missing from the movie, also, many events in the movie have been altered and are very different from the book, which make the movie seem incoherent and at some spots weak (you know this if you read the books). I am not at the beginning of the second book (The Two Towers), speaking of which, did you know that also many book fans were not very satisfied with Peter Jackson’s interpretation of the Books, and some even edited the Two Towers movie into something called: The purist edition. which is basically the same movie but without the differences and alternations from the books, Anyway, The boos are magnificent, if you are a fan of the movies, you definitely must read the books.
On a completely different note, I have been getting a lot of spam comments on this blog lately that slip by akismet, 99% of them are from “Anonymous”, I wondered why akismet was unable to detect these comments and I was forced to activate comment moderation for people who don’t have any previously approved comment, as an extra measure, but this proved to be tiresome since the amount of spam comments I was getting was becoming rediculous, and I had to resort to an extra method of protection, which came in the form of the plugin called WP-SpamFree. it just basically inserts a piece of javascript in the code that is invisible and does not affect human readers, but bots cannot process. you really should get it, So far I’ve had 99% success rate with it, it does not prevent trackback spam though, which isn’t so bad since akismet is highly efficient at catching those.
And now for something completely different, Check out the fast and the furious, arabic style

First of all, welcome back, wallahi you were missed ..Hope you had a good break and eid..
I didn’t read the books, I flipped through them..
To be honest with you I enjoyed the movies so much, I didn’t care how accurate they are.. like you said I knew that a lot of characters and events are missing but I think Jackson captured the idea and it was nice entertainment and an imaginary trip.. He wasn’t true to the books but the result is still as good

Bakkouz, can’t believe you hadn’t read the books before!!! I still have the copies I read when I was 12 (yea, antiques now, worth some money). I reread the whole
set before each film came out, too.
Very true the movies were different. Somehow, I wasn’t bothered since Peter Jackson SO captured the essence of it all. DId you hear he and New Line finally reached agreement to have him produce The Hobbit also? I am SO excited…and am hoping Christopher Tolkien could some day expand Silmarillion into some kind of trilogy as well.

You know, movies are made so you don’t have to read!
Happy Eid and a happy new year Bukseh

Too funny. You have just described the complaint heard from fans of books about every single movie ever made (with the notable exception of Forrest Gump, where I humbly submit the movie was better and more understandable). I have to admit that I was never able to get into LOTR or any of Tolkein’s stuff (my bother was a big fan), but I have experienced this MANY times…

It’s usually like this that the books are better than the movie
simply because if they mention all the descriptions and small details about the characters and the events that happen it will be a very long boring movie.
