This morning the new boss passed by looking for us. We were on our coffee run and we came back and he was near our office area and he just had small talk with us. He then said, “Mona are you free today? I want to have a meeting with you.”
I said, “I am always free. I am free now, come and talk.”
He said, “no no.. after lunch at 1:30. I left cookies on your desk.”

So I spent the morning waiting and wondering why he left ME cookies and seeing what the hell he wants from me.
At exactly 1:30 he shows up. The only thing that I like about this guy that he is punctual. :whoa: Then he started asking me random questions about the work place. Who does this super machine belong to? Who owns what? What belongs to whom? How can I have access to this?” I kept telling him, “no clue. Or yah.. since I have been here since 2002… this belongs to that guy.. but doesn’t use it anymore.” ….. etc on and on for about 20 minutes.
He kept asking for help like no tomorrow. I thought, “why is this guy so clueless? Why didn’t higher management tell him anything?” I tried to be as vague as possible cause I am not going to show him how much I knew because frankly, well, he was hired because he was the best fit for the immediate needs of the place.”
Yah.. I can see how that is working out so far.

Yeah the cookies look weird. I hope they didn’t taste funny :O
Anyways I just think that he’s trying to get used to the place, but he’s acting like a new intern or something, not like a BOSS!!
Ehh… We’ll see how things go with him. I bet you can boss him around already! If you get the chance to do that, DO IT! Take control over the whole place lol, maybe the higher management will consider promoting you to be the boss…

The picture is taken by my cell phone. Of course it sucks. I don’t carry my camera every where.

you don’t give someone a present by leaving them it on their desk. You offer it to them. Unless you have a communication problem. Or it’s sealed (which I’ve done) but even then you ask whether they want it.
His motivation. sex, avoid payrise, add workload, ineptitutude
If someone does you a favour they will expect something in return. Nip it in the bud. ‘I’m not a favors fo favors person’ will do.
Say you will help where you can. You don’t like to be singled out in this way. then Give him his cookies back & suggest he offer it to eveyone.
Questions - refer him to a colleague who specialises in the field. suggest a group discussion/solution. provide options. Take your time before reccommending solutions. Make it clear how much time you can afford.
Good. never stall a meeting that can’t be done in a few seconds.
I want to setup a website devepement school/consultancy in central america. Can you help?

Wow Amnesia.. some really powerful suggestions and ideas you have there. As for a website, I don’t do web design anymore, but it is a great idea that you are doing this. Stay in touch, I want to see how things go with it.
