Why guys marry some girls, but not others

MSN lifestyle ran an interesting article on "Why guys marry some girls, but not others" I find myself compelled to add my own take on the whole process. I happen to agree with some of the stuff, and not all since this whole matter is highly subjective and circumstantial.

There's also the Middle Easterner/Arab American twist that everyone seems to not care about!

So why do guys marry some girls, but not others?

The answer is simple, guys are descendants of cave men who were hunters by nature, and develop specific senses to help them seek out and find their perfect prey, or in this case mate. I apologize for the analogy but I wanted to give it as an example of how men have evolved to seek women of specific traits... Although, the hunting grounds have continued to change over the millennia, and the definition of "perfect woman" have changed so many times. You will notice some specifics in this generation that is completely different than, say, two or three generations ago

The tubby, nice, mommy figure is no longer in hot demand, and paradigms shifts have redefined what men seek as the ultimate prize, "the perfect wife"

Of course, I'm not interested in the lust/hormone driven young males who would think ANY woman is perfect as long as she's female and looks pretty! Although, there's a big base of even older men who appear to be still stuck in this preadolescence mentality.

I'm also not interested in the set of cave men who want a woman for cooking, and making babies ONLY.

So the proper question is, what do guys look for in their version of the "perfect wife" not "why would they marry some and not others"

Exciting women!

Boring house cows are so 1950's, no body wants another piece of furniture in their house. Personality is a very important part of the deal. If a woman is looking to get hitched, she gotta have a lot of character.

Her life, but not her world!

It's awesome to know that you're going to be the most important thing in her life. But you don't want someone to be stuck to you like a Siamese twin. A woman need to have her own interests, her own independence, before and after the marriage. Men seek these women who are not so dependent on them to the point of driving them insane.

The wind beneath my wings

Men seek the woman that drives them forward, and wants them to become the best they can become. By encouraging them at times, forcing them at others. Men need such a woman who keeps an eye on them and their carriers.

Push you forward, but hands you the steering wheel

A perfect choice is a woman who would continuously push her man, and her family forward, without assuming the driver position. But don't let that fool you, she needs to be able to jump into the driver seat and direct the whole family out of harms way if needed.

Keeps her man warm, full, and satisfied

Women are responsible for keeping their men. She needs to make sure that he's warm, full, and satisfied. This is the one thing that cave women understood thousands of years ago. How to keep their males.

Her circumstances are suitable

Or at least, they can be bent to suit him. She's of the right age, education, family and appeals to him, his family and his atmosphere. It's not like they're going to exist in a void, and her acceptance into his social sphere might be a very important factor in him deciding whether she's the one or not. Not like a guy wouldn't pick Haifa if he could afford her, but most likely he wouldn't be able to have her fit in his social sphere.

She's flexible

Guys give up a lot, a woman who can appreciate, reciprocate, compromise and sacrifice is someone that will totally win his heart and mind.

She has the capacity to forgive!

A good catch comes with it's set of side effects, someone doesn't "develop" to a good catch state except after having too many experiences in life. If the lady finds it within her character and confidence to understand that he wouldn't be the person in front of her today if it wasn't for all the history.

Always up to date and evolving!

There's nothing more boring than someone who's stuck in the previous decade! Yes, we grow up, our tastes develop, our bodies change even our views change. Then why would someone want to be stuck with a mullet from the 80's? There's no excuse for the modern woman not to be up to date on the state of the art and exciting gadgets, fashion, trends or even toys

Has a ton of pride that he outweighs

She must have pride, a lot of it, but puts it all aside when it comes to him. He's larger, greater, and more important to her than all these abstract values.

Can be the sluttiest person with him, but acts like mother Theressa with the rest of the world!

This one is very important, the exclusivity of certain behaviors, emotions and interactions. This exclusivity reassures the guy into feeling safe and appealing in such a relationship. This is not an all out invitation for a woman to be "all out there" but at the same time, holding back too much might become monotonous and boring.

Lenient on conflict

When conflict arises, it's very important to be with a lady that isn't explosive. Their personal volatility might cause certain wounds that can't ever be mended. A level headed person can hold their composure even while facing the greatest conflict and the worst of circumstances.

Strong social skills

No body wants to end up with the one lady who no body likes. These are a must in this extremely connected world. It makes a lot of sense to gravitate towards women with good skills with others, and know how to deal and handle all possible situations. Which means, shielded ladies need to get out more and know how to deal with the world

Conclusion

There are many other minor personal reasons why guys would go for a specific lady, sometimes they have no choice (as in, that's all they can come up with, or they're forced into getting married to someone due to familial pressure..etc) but for the people who have a choice, don't underestimate the intelligence of the human male!

The stakes are much higher these days, and even though it might not be politically correct from a feminist point of view that women have to endure through this power struggle with other women to win guys. But we're not talking about women gaining rights, we're talking about women who will be favored by males over women who might not be as "fortunate"!

The good old days of a woman not having any career, skill or character are over. These are very important factors now, and any male who respects his choice will most likely not consider anyone who's not established her self as a potential future success. Intelligent women are in greater demand, and the greatest sign of intelligence is being able to adapt and be anything she wants. Things like character, career and social skills come free with intelligence. But not too much intelligence that would suffocate people in front of her, although in my case, there's no limit to intelligence, the more, the better!

But also, don't ever underestimate the power of: Luck, beauty, and the stupidity of the sexually deprived human male!

"Always up to date and evolving!"
Ameeen to that!
I agree to many points wallah..and girls should know how to respect and appreciate their men, or else they will be gone and it'll be too late.
and they say men are simple!! huh :)
إيش يا Dr. Phil

is this the manual?
It's all valid, but I have to mention that your style has changed fast compare to previous posts about the subject..The "Husband mode" started to kick in..:D You have wrote this like a diplomat and didn't step on anybodys toes and we are all happy .. Now am certain that you'll make a good husband :)

Do u mind if I whisper a guess about who the 3arouss might be ?? Like others  said , I think she is a blogger too..
I feel compelled to state that this still your own take & preferences on this (obviously). Needless to say, what works for you does not necessarily work for others. That is the beauty of individuality :-)
Batoul
Nope, she doesn't need any reminders :) She does this "instinctively"

This is by no means a manual. It just highlights some things that need to be taken into consideration more and more by the older and more mature guys

I really enjoyed the text and I agree with a lot of things you said!! But somethings I didn't because I think that people are too different, so maybe it's hard to figure what men or women want! Some guys prefer women with some attitude, others not so much! And I must say that some guys really don't think like you, unfortunately! They sometimes don't appreciate intelligence!!
Woman are very hard too! We can't be defined and I think that we can "drive" pretty well ehehe.. (you said we shouldn't)

Anyway, you write very well!!! I read the text on MSN too and I liked it!! :)
