At the wedding chapel
Yesterday, was quite a day, one of the best in my whole existence....
But before the climatic finish of the day, we had to go through the notions of going to the courthouse to get a marriage license, and seeing all the amazing numbers over there.
I don't want to call cultural supremacy -again-! But one look around me, made me so proud of my culture, with ALL it's shortcomings.
Why?...
Well, here's a rundown of what you will see in line to get the marriage License...
- 50% of the women are pregnant. (And it shows)
- 30% are there with their babies
- 10% The woman are 10 years older than her boyfriend who somehow (??) got her knocked up!
- 10% The woman are 20 years older, not very attractive, with a hot Latino boy 18 years of age (OR LESS) (can someone shout GREEN CARD? [Yet somehow they're ALL OVER THE PLACE] - ewwwww!
- 10% Are underage (AND PREGNANT) with their mothers. The boy holding a PSP playing some basketball game. The girl wearing braces and 7 month pregnant! Yeah, Juno is not that far fetched.
- Less than 40% appear to be single couples with chemistry
- 1 couple were over 60. (They were adorable, so cute)
At the end of the wait, no one appeared to be eager to get their marriage certificate. We got weird looks when we asked to see the judge on the same day. No body is really in a hurry to get married.
After calling every Islamic center and getting some laughable responses. We managed to find one guy who will take care of the process for us, and do the ceremony.
I did my life long dream, and later on discovered that it's also Maioush's dream too. We got married wearing jeans :)
So yeah, we're officially, married (Katabna el kitab) on July 10th 2008
