Benefits:
high connection speed with no interruption.
I wouldn't call it a high speed but the highest we decided to offer you in the Kingdom because we do not look at providing a better Internet infrastructure as a national strategy, we are a company with one goal, [...]

11:03pm Arriving.
Granted.
Life can have its incredibly uninspiring moments.
Some times, they last a whole week. A month. A year.
Work drains you.
Education drains you.
The news drains you.
Life drains you.
Thursday night is an attempt of venturing out in to the darkness of Amman...
In search of something...
Inspiring.
And it's so liquid.
It takes on the shape of your container.

Back in February, I wrote a post on Jordanian perceptions regarding the US primaries at the time. Today, I am about to semi-contradict myself but, as always, bear with me.
I.
If you walk down Amman's downtown and ask the average Jordanian about their thoughts on the American election, the average answer you might get is [...]

I was reading this AP piece today and it occurred to me that it's actually pretty reflective of something I've observed recently: there are a lot of foreigners learning Arabic in Jordan. Casual visits to areas like Rainbow Street feel like study halls. Most of them are American. The numbers are increasing to the point [...]

If you've been following the local news this past week you'll notice Jordan is set to purchase a brand-spanking new nuclear reactor from France, while building the country's first, 40 megawattwind farm. Meanwhile, the non-stop chatter of oil-shale production (which I can guarantee won't see efficient, full-scale commercial production for at least another decade) is [...]

FEKRA... Almost Movies

FEKRA is a group of Jordanian youth who decided to join their potential and talents to create something they always wanted to do. FIKRA literally means Idea, which is the very idea of this group who, despite their limited resources in terms of budget, equipments and experience, are trying to produce short movies they hope will carry their ideas and share them with the world, even if it was not the most professional thing in the world, but it still conveys the idea. With a simple digital camera, a moviemaker and a few ideas, they aspire to kick start a channel of viral videos that will hopefully reach the largest audience possible through the vast cyber space.Join us in Fekra and stay tuned for Fekra’s first movie, “Dandanah”, now in the making. No spoilers here, but the thing about Dandanah is that if it sticks, it spreads, and if it spreads, it snowballs…

Raising the public awareness on the social and economic impact of wasta, bribery and corruption patterns is a major component in efforts to fight corruption in the coming four years, officials said. Publicising the National Anti-Corruption Strategy for the years 2008-2012 on Wednesday, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) staged a focus-group discussion of the plan, where [...]

HM Queen Rania dropped from 82 to 96 in the latest Forbes ranking of the 100 most powerful women in the world. It's still interesting to see a Jordanian woman on the list, especially with the occupation titled: “Queen”.
Merkel, naturally, remains number one.

From a very informative post by Dr Abu-Jaber of Yarmouk University on the possibility of Oil Fields in Jordan. As you can see in the map, about 66% of the oil in the world is concentrated in what is called the "Oil Corridor" - which results from the collision of 2 tectonic plates.Unfortunately, Jordan is not on this corridor - but the possibility of "some oil" is present.
